Application Submission

The DoW HBCU/MI Summer Research Internship Program accepts applications annually. Applications for the 2026 internship can be submitted from October 21, 2025, to January 14, 2026, 11:59 PM ET.  Scroll down to the bottom of this page to start your application.

Please note that the application will require the following information:

1. General Information (this includes verification of U.S. citizenship and REAL ID/Passport requirements)
2. Primary Address
3. Contact Information (two distinct emails and two distinct phone numbers)
4. Institution Information
5. Current Transcript from an HBCU/MI (Spring or Fall 2025)
6. Current Resume
7. Internship Informational Questions
8. Participating Organization Selections: Please refer to the Opportunities page for the full list of participating organizations. Click the organization name to see the list of research opportunities. When completing your application, copy the research opportunity code(s) directly from the website to indicate the positions you are applying for. Applicants may include up to three research opportunity codes in their application.
9. Essay Questions
   • How will a summer research experience with a DoW facility align with your educational goals and research interests?
   • How will another summer internship at a DoW facility enhance your educational growth and facilitate your career goals? (returning interns only)
